"Knowing Christ and Making Him Known"
FAITH IN GOD
Who is God? How can we know Him? The answers are found in the Bible where we read about the greatest story ever told. This is the true account of a loving God who gave us His one and only Son, so that we may know Him and enjoy everlasting life.
In the beginning God alone created the heavens and the earth. God did this because of His goodness, power and love. God created people. He gave human beings life, blessing, relationship, purpose and a good world to enjoy.
But things changed. Human beings turned away from God. Now the world is messy and chaotic. If we are honest, we would admit that we are part of this problem too. All of us, at some stage, have been selfish and greedy, often at a real cost to others. The Bible teaches that we are ‘in the darkness’. This means that we do not understand God. Nor do we follow God’s ways by nature. If we are left to figure out who God is, or to follow His ways, we are doomed to fail. In the end, we either deny that God exists or we follow the ‘god’ of our own making. Consequently, we don’t have an answer to the mess of the world or the problem of death.
Thankfully, at a point of time in history, God acted in love. Over 2000 years ago, God sent His only Son, Jesus of Nazareth, to give people new life. This 'life' is found in a relationship with God that begins now and continues beyond death. Jesus was sent to reconcile us back to God. Through Jesus Christ we can know God and experience His forgiveness and holy presence. God did this by raising Jesus from the dead for us. God rose Jesus from the dead after He died in our place, bearing our sins, at Calvary. This Jesus is now alive as King of kings and Lord of lords. He stands in the presence of God in heaven. He lives there to be a Mediator for us. One day Jesus will fulfil His promise to come again - this time in great power and glory. He will accomplish the final victory over all evil and death. What a great day that will be!
So, you must trust God and Jesus Christ. Acknowledge your need for God. Believe in Jesus as Lord and come to Him by faith. Jesus washes us from sin and guilt through the gift of the Holy Spirit. Then, as a child of God, start following … along with us. Millions of people around the world can speak about how the Lord Jesus Christ has given them new life and hope.
Nearing the end of his time on earth, Jesus said to His followers
“I am the way…the truth…and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6-7).
